Nutrition Tips for Faster Injury Recovery
Proper nutrition can significantly accelerate your recovery from injury. Here's what to focus on:
Protein: The Building Block
Aim for 1.6-2.2g of protein per kg of body weight when recovering from injury. Good sources include lean meats, eggs, fish, legumes, and protein shakes.
Anti-Inflammatory Foods
Incorporate foods rich in omega-3 fatty acids (salmon, chia seeds, walnuts), antioxidants (berries, leafy greens), and turmeric with black pepper for its curcumin content.
Vitamins and Minerals
Vitamin C supports collagen production for tendon and ligament repair. Vitamin D and calcium are essential for bone healing. Zinc plays a role in tissue regeneration.
Hydration
Dehydration can impair healing. Aim for 2-3 litres of water daily, more if you're exercising.
Always consult your GP or a registered dietitian before making significant dietary changes.
